Description : Beckley Fruit and Confectionary, owned by Mike and Albert Corey, Raleigh County, 1910. Arriving in the United States from Syria in 1901, the Coreys came to West Virginia in 1907. Immigrants have played an important role in the state's history-farming the land, working in the coal mines and, like the Coreys, operating businesses.
